No one's
a bigger fan of summer than me. Needless to say I spent
all of winter reminiscing about some of my experiences at shows
last summer. New bands, new people, outdoor festivals,
barbecues, parades, Art Wauks, Xtreme sports... and who could
forget the big ones like the Ben-e-fit and Waukegan Rockfest?
Here we are at the start of summer 2003 and it
is shaping up to be another we won't soon forget.
All-ages venues like the Lake Villa VFW and the Round Lake
Social Club are promising to feed us a steady diet of rock, and
new bands are rising up from the wood work. With all
that's happening we're sure to fill up our 2003 photo archives
to ten times the size of last year.
As the month of June brings us in to the first
day of summer, we're going to celebrate this month and through
July by
looking back at the fun we had in the summer of 2002 right here
in Lake County, IL.
I've gone through over 2,500 photographs taken
last summer and picked out my favorites. I've included a
small narrative under each one explaining a bit about the story behind each photograph. We'll also feature new Bonus
Galleries throughout the months of some of our favorite shows of
2002.
One thing that always stood out for me in many
of these photos is the sense of community at each and every
show. I thought of how fortunate Lake County was to have
such incredible bands. It was very inspiring for me
personally.
So sit back see all the fun we had. Be
sure to join us at some of the great shows going on in 2003 and
maybe we'll do this again next year!
