I finally get to posting a new entry here. Funny how the older you get, the faster time goes. Like a cruel joke. For me, this has been, so far, a year of change. I've changed jobs, changed names (Yep! Tied the knot on 08/21/05!). My LIFE has changed. And I've found myself becoming envious of others that are younger than me. You get to the point I'm at, tied into a house, stuck in a job, and it's hard to make a change. Hard to up and decide to start a totally new career when everything you have rides on where you are now in the job world. And so, while I won't be the first person to say it, or that last, STAY IN SCHOOL! GET A DEGREE DOING SOMETHING YOU LOVE!!!
In other news, I'm slightly dissapointed to see that a lot of the bands out there right now (and I might be wrong) are all very young. Do the mid-20s peeps around here think it's not worth it anymore? What happened to playing music for fun and not for profit? Ok, ok, I know just as well as any of us that playing in a band is hard work and takes up a lot of time, but again, another example of how we all start to abandon the things we love as we get older. Don't let go of those things!

true, the older people playing music just arn't as in touch with the local music as they use to be
...
they should change that.
and the youth more involved in music is a good and bad thing, and i'm enjoying every fuckin second of it!!!

I concur. I am old and have been in and out of the scene for many years. I don't feel like I've lost touch with my music, but will admit there is less time devoted. It's not by choice, but rather a demand for attention from the kids. I think about it this way, when my kids are old enough, I will then devote more time to me and to my music. But for now, I put in what I can, life shouldn't be about regrets or what if's. Just do it now, before you do regret it.
I think it comes down to the older you get the less you want to move around. Lake COunty has always been a youth centered scene. When peopel get older they move to the city. I havn't been in a band for three years, and honestly I just don't know if I could do that anymore.
