The History:  The original paper fanzine out of Waukegan, IL. (north of Chicago) came out in 1992 and it started out as a newsletter that my band Gainsay put out to keep our fans up to date on what was going on with the band.  It grew to include info on other bands that were around at the time.  The 'zine included band interviews, scene reports from all over Illinois and Wisconsin, reader articles and stories, poetry, music and show reviews... it was also a forum for anyone wishing to speak their mind.  A total of 9 issues were put together with the last issue, #9, put out in September of 1993. They were passed out at shows or mailed out to over 200 subscribers.

  The mission:  To support local, underground music and get the kids out to the shows.  The online webzine will showcase bands from all over Lake County, IL., Chicago and surrounding areas.

JstreetZine.com does not support major labels or bands currently under major label representation.  If they get any press here its very minimal.  Our focus is on unsigned artists and people who bust their asses to get their music heard.
